Head - Skull broad, flat, and short. Beak stout and short. Eyes prominent. Comb single, upright, of medium size, smooth, and with four to six serrations. Face muffled. Muffling full, wide and short. Earlobes and Wattles small, and partially concealed by the muffles.
Neck short and thick.
Body broad and deep, "cloddy"; broad breast with deep keel-bone, well forward but not too round ; fairly long back, flat and "square," i.e. broad across shoulders and saddle ; small wings carried closely; moderately long tail, somewhat upright and with broad feathers. (Note. —Long, thin, flowing tails, either low or on a level with the back, are very objectionable.)
Legs short and stout. Thighs well apart. Shanks straight and with width between them. (Note - Narrowness or any tendency to "inkneed," is very objectionable), sparsely feathered to the outer toe. Toes (five), the front three long, straight, and well spread, the outer toe being sparsely feathered, the fourth toe (quite divided from the fifth) on the ground and well back, the fifth turned up the leg.
Carriage as in the Dorking.

THE HEN
With the exception of the comb (much smaller in proportion) and the tail (fan-shaped) the general characteristics are similar to those of the cock, allowing for the natural sexual differences.

Beak black. Eyes black or brown. Comb, Face, Wattles and Earlobes red, partially concealed by muffling. Legs and Feet black or blue. Plumage of the Cock.—Head, Muffling, Neck, Back, Saddle, Tail and Wing-bows dark slate-blue. Remainder medium slate-blue, each feather laced a dark shade.
Plumage of the Hen - Head, Muffling and Neck dark slate-blue, the neck getting gradually light towards the back. Remainder medium slate blue laced a dark shade.
Beak horn or white. Eyes grey or hazel. Comb, Face, Wattles and Earlobes red, partially concealed by muffling. Legs and Feet white. Plumage (both sexes) rich lemon buff.
Beak, etc., as in the Buff.
Plumage of the Cock - Muffling solid black. Hackles straw. Back, Shoulders and Wing-bow bright cherry mahogany. Breast, Thighs, underfluff, Tail and Shank Feathering black. Wings bar black; secondaries pure white on outer edge of feathers and black on inner edge and at the tips ; primaries black.
Plumage of the Hen.— Muffling, Breast, Thighs and Fluff cream. Remainder wheaten brown, the neck -hackle striped with a dark shade of the same colour (free from black) and the wings a light shade.
THE WHITE
Beak, etc., as in the Buff.
Plumage (both sexes) pure white, free from straw tinge.
Skin and legs other than white (except in the blue);
Absence of muffling;
Featherless shanks and outer toes;
Other than five toes on each foot;
Hollow breast;
Mealiness of general colour, or white in tail, wings, and under-colour of the Buff;
Brassiness on wings of the White;
Any bodily deformity.
